The Charlestown Business Association is the community's prime business network. The organization gives a strong voice to business both within the community and the city. It is an effective support for member businesses and their products and services and offers many opportunities for business networking. Founded in 1986, the Association has grown from a small core of businesses to more than 200 members today. This growth mirrors the economic vitality of Charlestown.
The Business Association's Mission is to better the community through commerce. This means that the Association offers benefits directly to its own members and to the community. Membership benefits include monthly meetings with an exciting array of educational, community, and social and networkikng events; promotional outreach with new Association Membership Directories, Newsletters, Website, and brochures; Health Insurance Partnership to aid small business owners with health insurance, a Membership discount program, a Webblog and timely information about important activities and trends that affect business operations in Charlestown, such as parking, new developments, and special local events. In addition, one of the Directors sits as the Association's representative on the Charlestown Neighborhood Council and is involved in decision-making that directly affects the community and businesses.
Over the past several years, one of the Business Association's goals has been to increase the organization's visibility within the Charlestown community and beyond. In addition to the newsletter, directories, brochures, and website, the organization also sponsors: raising funds and decorating lightpoles with greens along its commercial streets during the festive holiday season; supporting the Warren Prescott Holiday Sale and supporting local non-profits with issues related to crime and youth.
