Warren Prescott/CBA Holiday Shopping Event to be held THIS SATURDAY, COME AND SHOP! |
Come this Saturday and support local small businesses and the Warren Prescott School by attending our Third Annual Holiday Shopping Event.
Charlestown and other local artisans and distributors will distribute their products for sale on Saturday, November 17, 2007 from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Warren-Prescott School. The Warren-Prescott School is located at 50 School Street. The Holiday Shopping Event will be held in the cafeteria which can also be accessed on Pearl Street.
"This is our way to help local businesses and artisans boost their Christmas sales, and allow other local businesses to promote themselves to Charlestown residents and businesses at the same time," said Karl Hoyt, CBA Chair. "It also allows us to help the community with all money being donated to the local school."
Refreshments will be available for purchase. All money raised through the Holiday Shopping Event will benefit the Warren-Prescott School, a public school serving grades K through 8. So, get ready to kick-off the 2007 Holiday Season with an afternoon of shopping.
In addition to finding some great gifts for the people on your list, you will be supporting Charlestown business owners and the Warren-Prescott School.
WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING VENDOR APPLICATIONS
We are currently looking for Vendors to occupy space for the sale. You can register online. Typical Vendors are craftspeople, local retailers, skin care consultants, self employed consultants, CBA Members who want to talk to people in the community, a food vendor, jewelry vendors, and much more.

What is your vision for Charlestown's Shopping and Restaurant Areas? |
The Charlestown Patriot-Bridge newspaper delivered the Charlestown Community Survey to every door in the community on November 8th. Its purpose is to give residents and employees of local businesses the chance to give feedback on what they'd like to see happen in Charlestown's Shopping and Restaurant areas.
Please take a moment to complete the survey now, if you haven't done so yet!
Go to www.charlestownbusiness.com and click on the link to the survey. Then fill it out. The survey is available in English and in Spanish. It is quick and it is easy. And it is your chance to let us know what you want!
This is important. If you live and also work in Charlestown¸ please select one person in your household to fill out the survey delivered to your home. If you work but do not live in Charlestown, simply fill out the survey here online. The deadline for the survey is November 23rd. Results of the survey will be presented in a community forum early next year.
Charlestown's Shopping and Restaurant areas are constantly changing and proposed residential developments will have further impacts. Through the Charlestown Community Survey, residents and local employees in Charlestown now have a chance to decide the types of stores, restaurants and other opportunities we will have in the future in our community and where they will be located.
The survey asks what residents and employees in Charlestown want and need when it comes to shopping, eating, and service businesses. Today, our residents do much of their shopping outside the community. We need to plan how to keep and expand shopping and restaurants in the community where they can serve the needs of current and future residents and employees and support more jobs. Please take part in this important activity for Charlestown's future. Your opinions are very important to the survey
The survey is sponsored by the Charlestown Business Association and the Charlestown Neighborhood Council. If you have questions about the survey, please email: charlestownbusinessclimate@yahoo.com. Thank you for helping us help Charlestown!

Health Insurance Benefits offered to CBA Members
After much research into benefits for the self-employed, the NASE (The National Association for the Self-Employed) can offer small business owners access to health and business benefits among many other benefits. The NASE was started in 1981 as an organization that offers support, benefits and consolidated buying power. Today, the NASE is over 200,000 members strong, and is the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan association of its kind. The NASE works hard to ensure that Congress consider issues important to the members, with a full time advocacy team located in Washington D.C.
Through the NASE membership, we are able to benefit in many ways like large corporations by banding together to have power in numbers. This has primarily affected the small business owner by offering access to tax savings programs and affordable health insurance among many other discount programs.
The NASE's No. 1 most requested benefit is access to health coverage. Securing affordable health coverage is a top priority for micro-business owners. This coverage is underwritten by The MEGA Life & Health Insurance Company* The health insurance plans can be enhanced with optional benefits and are designed for the self-employed. These plans also provide NASE Members with some valuable features. First, you have the freedom to see any doctor and go to any hospital, without network restrictions. There are many options to choose from including dental, vision, prescription and disability.
